About Us
Focal Pointe Design, LLC, is a third-generation business owned by professional designer Frank B. Pirrello. My grandfather Pirrello’s first shop was in Detroit, and my father was a custom cabinet maker with a business originally located at Chalmers and East Warren. We presently operate a woodworking fabrication facility on East Eight Mile Road in Warren and specialize in the Grosse Pointes. Our showroom is located on Mack Avenue.
This is a family business and this community is our home. Kitchen and bath companies have come and gone…but our family has been in this business for many years and we’re here to stay. We know how many Grosse Pointe kitchens and baths are short on space. If there’s a wall, we can move it – we will find the extra inches and stretch them. Kitchens can be outfitted with freezer drawers, warming drawers, under-counter wine chillers, not to mention the latest in built-in appliances. These all add to the efficiency of the modern kitchen. As for baths, they weren’t designed 40 years ago to be used the way we want to use them today. Now you can have double bowl sinks, skylights, and multiple-spray showers. We can create storage where you thought you had none – you’ll get maximum capacity out of minimal space. Focal Pointe is a design firm with distinctive flair for the extraordinary, with decades of construction and remodeling experience.

“I have known Frank and Focal Pointe Design for close to 20 years. I have had the privilege of owning and restoring a house built in 1921. The first project was a complete redo of the master bath, and he did tremendous work. In the years since then he has re-done another bathroom, two bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, foyer and vestibule, and the outside front of the house. Frank and his crew do super high-quality work, and are very good at preserving the history of an older house. “I hired Focal Pointe to renovate and update my mother's house, which was built in 1960 and had had very little renovation or freshening over the years. I asked Focal Pointe to do the following: a gut renovation of the kitchen, a gut renovation of two bathrooms, new flooring in the kitchen and hallway, new flooring in one half of the basement which had seen significant water damage, installation of a flat-screen TV in the den (which required rewiring), selection and installation of new light fixtures throughout the house, selection and installation of new door hardware throughout the house, and updating electrical outlets to three prongs from two. I've been extremely pleased with Focal Pointe's performance. Frank, the owner of the company, is experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the work. I was impressed from the start when he submitted detailed proposals and sketches for the kitchen and bath renovations, unlike other contractors I interviewed who didn't want to put any effort into a proposal until I paid them something. Frank was also very efficient in scheduling appointments with suppliers, so that I only had to spend a total of two days in choosing cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, etc., and at each appointment we had instant personal attention from the salespeople. The quality of the work has been excellent. The kitchen in particular is like a miracle appeared in the house. Frank had some ideas about the kitchen that I had not thought of that made it beautiful and special. Frank's team, which includes his son, knows what they're doing and has great attention to detail.
